Silverchair formed in 1992, and messed around in the Ben's garage for a while. Then in June of '94, they entered their song "Tomorrow" in a national demo competition. Of the 800 entries, silverchair placed first and won a day in the recording studio run by Australia's national alternative-rock station, 2JJJ FM. They recut the track, which was added to the station's playlist, and soon became a number one hit. When silverchair finally released their debut album FROGSTOMP in 1995, it entered the Australia pop chart and was platinum within a week. Lots of people around the world have also bought it and it has now sold over 3 million copies, their new album FREAK SHOW has recently been released along with a new single, "FREAK".
